Jesse Glover's "non-classical gung fu" changed my vision in different ways. when i started working out in Seattle in 1992 i was already into different martial arts from different sources for more than 20 years. i was teaching chinese boxing (wing-chun sources) but had allready real experience in kickboxing and was competing in the eightees. I couln't imagine that a lineage like "Jesse Glover's non-classical kung fu" would work so well.,,because its all about feeling and hard work.
Jesse is able to make a fighter to a very very good fighter, but most important, he can make ANYONE (who is willing to) learn how to fight!
As an direct student of Jesse i am proud to say that he made me way better then i ever dreamed of.
Today i can say that also Steve Smith gave me such an enrichment of skills, like unseen before.I can recommend "non-classical gung fu" and Steve Smith's structure to anyone who likes to learn how to fight or just to defend himself in a real situation.
I have to add that you guys who are in touch with Jesse Glover and Steve Smith,,are just lucky, because these two gentlemens are awesome and UNIQUE.
--Jesse Glover makes a beginner to a hard puncher in a cuple of hours!
-- Steve Smith can make you flow in a shapeless or formless way as an good compensation to "non-classical gung fu"
Jesse & Steve ,,THANK YOU,,

The staff of Steve Smith's Premier Martial Arts are traveling to Tumwater, WA for the Premier Martial Arts Instructor College. All instructors go at Premier Martial Arts complete three instructor colleges and over 40 hours of formal continuing education every year.

One of the highlights of the trip in that on Sunday the staff has a privated training session with Jesse Glover (Bruce Lee's first student). The students will have a 2 hour class and then see some of the areas of Seattle where Bruce, Jesse and Ed hung out. Thanks Jesse for taking the time to work this in.

Your web site is a good overview, but it can not equal the experience.

NON CLASSICAL GUNG FU Curriculum

“Non Classical Gung Fu is not a system it is a process”.
Jesse R. Glover

The Little Dojo is dedicated to the principal of effective personal protection. We believe in giving students skills that they can use immediately. Even if they are attacked after just one class they will have effective weapons to help deal with an attack.

The most effective method that we have found to teach this ability is Non-Classical Gung Fu. Non Classical Gung Fu is the initial context that we use to teach all of our martial arts classes including Yueng Chuan.
Non Classical Gung Fu is especially recommended for the student that is interested in developing a high level of physical fitness along with the ability to defend them selves in a short period of time. The workouts are friendly, fast paced and will push you to the highest level of performance you are capable of, and that will be more than most believe is possible.
Non-Classical Gung Fu (Kung Fu) is based on the southern Chinese System of Wing Chun. It is a neurological based fighting method that was pioneered by the late Bruce Lee and has been further refined by Jesse Glover. Non Classical Gung Fu will quickly teach you how to strike with power at very high speed. You will learn how to control your opponents and will be taught how to strike them continuously before they are able to strike back. You will develop the stamina and speed to defend against an attack and continue striking until the fight is over. In short this method is (arguably) the fastest method for an average person to develop exceptional fighting ability. The dedicated, hardworking student using this process can develop greater ability in 6 months than most other martial artists will develop after many years of training, if they are ever taught any real fighting skills at all. Unlike many other traditional systems of martial arts Non Classical Gung Fu has no belt or ranking system. The only test is if the student can actually apply what is being taught.

‘The test of a teacher/system is not if the teacher can fight but I their students can fight.’
-Jesse Glover

The reason that this method works is centered on the way that our neural systems learn physical movement, especially when working with a less than eager partner/opponent. Many systems work well with a partner that is cooperating. However Non Classical Gung Fu works, as well with either a non-cooperative or cooperative partner, in fact many times you can’t tell the difference. Martial arts students that have tried other methods (and become disillusioned by their lack of performance) will find this method a real breath of fresh air. Many people believe that this is the distilled essence of Bruce Lee’s Legacy.
Jesse Glover has been studying and perfecting this method since he met Bruce Lee in 1959 becoming first his student and then his assistant instructor. Glover continues to improve this method/process and continually studies the actions and reactions of human beings on both the physiological and psychological realm. He then applies this knowledge to continually refine Non Classical Gung Fu and graciously shares this information with The Little Dojo. He has passed this information to Steve Smith through hundreds of informal meetings, travel time, and seminars. Steve has been fortunate to travel with Jesse in both the United States and Europe and has done demonstrations at many of them. Steve has also attended (and continues to attend when possible) Glovers regular classes in Seattle.
Jesse Glover has given numerous seminars sponsored by The Little Dojo. We are incredibly privileged to be one of the few martial arts schools that he shares this openly with.

Non Classical Gung Fu does not have any belt or other ranking system. However we have broken it down into a basic and advanced class because all students, regardless of their major interests, are required to take one month of Non Classical Gung Fu.
BASIC ideas we want everyone to learn:
1. Big Punch.
2. Closing Punch.
3. In & Out Punching.
4. Backfist.
5. Slapping Hand.
6. Basic Combinations.
7. Chasing the mitt.

ADVANCED ideas that will be taught are inclusive of, but are not excluded to:

Sticking and Finishing

How do you hit from this position Jesse?
Well Steve you just hit him.
He just boils it down doesn’t he?
